The creative

New launch imagery

Three production-ready pieces in the BlackTop identity — a square ad unit, a social post, and an Open Graph share card — composed to the brand's imagery direction.

Brand direction

How the brand speaks & looks

Voice

directloyalgroundeddry-witted

Talk rider-to-rider, not brand-to-user. Short, concrete, a little wry. Lead with the ride and the crew, back it with the privacy promise. Earn trust by saying less.

Avoid

  • no corporate hype ('revolutionize', 'seamless', 'game-changer')
  • no emoji
  • don't fetishize speed or risk — this isn't a racing brag app
  • never imply rides or voice are stored/sold (privacy is the whole point)
  • no purple gradients, no startup-deck gloss

Imagery direction

Real riders, real asphalt: grain-true photography of mixed crews rolling out at golden hour, gloved hands on bars, a parked line of bikes outside a diner, helmet POV of an empty two-lane. Low-key lighting, single warm amber key, matte road texture. Amber used like hi-vis safety gear — sparing, on edges. No stock-photo riders, no chrome 3D, no lens flare.

Marketing copy

Ready to publish

Ad copy, social posts and launch announcements — written on-brand and ready to paste into your channels.

Paid acquisition

Ad copy

Brand: BlackTop (Pavement direction) Tagline: Find your people. Keep the rubber down. Objective: App installs (iOS + Android) Channel: Meta — Facebook + Instagram (Feed, Reels, Stories) Voice: rider-to-rider, direct, grounded, a little dry. No hype. No emoji. Never imply rides or voice are stored or sold.

Variant 1 — "No Accounts" (tests: PRIVACY)

Primary Text No sign-up. No email. No "create your profile." You open BlackTop and you're riding. Your routes, your stats, your garage — all on your phone, none on our servers. We don't have accounts because we don't want your data. Track the ride. Roll with your crew. That's it.

Headline No accounts. No tracking. Just the ride.

Description On-device ride tracking + live convoy. Free.

CTA button Install Now

Audience / targeting notes

  • Interests: motorcycles, sport touring, ADV riding, Royal Enfield / Triumph / Harley / Ducati owner groups, "Revzilla", "Cycle Gear".
  • Layer privacy intent: interests in DuckDuckGo, Signal, Proton, GrapheneOS, "data privacy."
  • 24–55, all riders. Exclude under-18.
  • Placements: Reels + Feed. This angle reads strongest as text-forward, so don't bury the copy.

Variant 2 — "Roll Out Together" (tests: COMMUNITY / CONVOY)

Primary Text Group rides fall apart at the first red light. Somebody misses the turn, somebody's tank runs low, and you're texting at a gas station trying to regroup. BlackTop keeps the convoy together. See where everyone is on the route, live, while you ride. No yelling, no guessing, no leaving anybody behind. Find your people. Keep the rubber down.

Headline Keep the whole group on the route.

Description Live convoy sharing for your crew. Free to ride.

CTA button Install Now

Audience / targeting notes

  • Interests: group riding, motorcycle clubs, "ride-outs", breakfast runs, ADV rallies, charity rides.
  • Lookalike off any early install list once it exists; until then, broad moto interest + engaged shoppers.
  • Strong for Reels — show the live-map-while-riding moment in the first 2 seconds.
  • Test a Stories cut with the same hook.

Variant 3 — "Free, No Catch" (tests: FREE / VALUE)

Primary Text No subscription. No "pro tier." No ads selling you a jacket between your stats. BlackTop is free because the business model isn't you. Track your rides, build your garage, ride with your group — and keep all of it on your own phone. Free app, honest deal. Download it.

Headline Free. No ads. No subscription.

Description Ride tracking, garage + convoy. Yours, on-device.

CTA button Download

Audience / targeting notes

  • Broadest set — use as the volume/scaling ad once a winner is found.
  • Interests: motorcycles + budget/value-leaning signals (used bike marketplaces, DIY moto maintenance, "motorcycle for beginners").
  • Good entry ad for new + returning-to-riding crowd.
  • Watch CPI here; this angle should be your cheapest installs.

Variant 4 — "New to the Group" (tests: FRIENDLY / WELCOMING)

Primary Text You don't need a patch, a club, or ten years of riding to use BlackTop. Log your rides. Watch your garage grow. When your friends are out, see where they are and talk to them, bike to bike. It's the easy way to feel like you're riding with people, even your first season out. New rider or old hand — there's room on the road.

Headline Made by riders, for riders.

Description Track rides, talk to your group, keep it private.

CTA button Install Now

Audience / targeting notes

  • Interests: new riders, MSF / rider training courses, first motorcycle, scooter + small-displacement owners, "car friendly" — also test light auto-enthusiast overlap (the brief notes car friends are welcome).
  • Slightly younger skew, 21–40.
  • Warmest creative — golden-hour meetup imagery, faces, the rider wave.

Variant 5 — "Rider Voice" (tests: FEATURE / P2P VOICE)

Primary Text Hand signals only get you so far. By the time you've pointed at the exit, you've passed it. BlackTop gives your group peer-to-peer voice — talk bike to bike, no third party listening in, nothing recorded. Just you and the crew, on the same channel, eyes still on the road. Find your people. Keep the rubber down.

Headline Talk to your group. Eyes on the road.

Description P2P rider voice + live convoy. Private by design.

CTA button Install Now

Audience / targeting notes

  • Interests: motorcycle intercoms (Cardo, Sena), helmet comms, group touring, two-up riding.
  • This angle converts the "I already paid $300 for a Sena" crowd — lead with "no extra hardware."
  • Pair with a Reels demo of the talk-button UI; keep it under 8 seconds.

Testing plan (quick notes for the founder)

  • Run privacy (V1) vs community (V2) head-to-head first. Those are your two core stories; one will define the brand's growth angle.
  • Keep one creative variable per ad set so you learn cleanly (copy angle, not five things at once).
  • Free (V3) is your scaling ad — expect lowest CPI, use it for volume once a story wins.
  • Friendly (V4) widens the funnel to new + car-curious riders per the brief.
  • Kill anything above target CPI after ~50 installs; don't nurse a loser.
  • Every variant stays on-voice: no "revolutionize", no "seamless", no emoji, no privacy claims we can't keep.

Post 2 — Privacy story (single image / Reel)

Caption We built BlackTop without accounts on purpose. No login means there's nothing to leak, nothing to sell, nothing for us to hand over. Your rides live on your phone. That's the whole idea.

If an app's free and it knows everything about you, you're the product. Not here.

Image/asset note: Tight shot of a phone in a tank bag showing the ride screen, gloved hand on the bar, golden-hour. Amber UI accents only.

Post 3 — Convoy feature (Reel)

Caption The group ride problem: someone always gets dropped at a light. BlackTop keeps the whole convoy on one live map while you ride — so nobody's left guessing at the next gas stop.

Roll out together. Stay together.

Facebook (Post 1 re-cut)

BlackTop is live — the rider app that keeps your rides, your garage, and your group data on your phone, not on our servers. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. Free to download. Find your people, keep the rubber down. [link]

(Facebook tolerates more length and a plain link; drop the hashtag stack to 2–3 max.)

Instagram Stories (any post)

  • Frame 1: amber wordmark on black + "It's live."
  • Frame 2: one feature line ("Keep the whole convoy on one map.")
  • Frame 3: "No accounts. No tracking." + Link sticker to the app store.

Keep text big, high-contrast amber-on-asphalt. One idea per frame.

1. Launch email — to early riders

Subject: It's live. No accounts, no catch. Preheader: BlackTop is out. Track your rides, roll with your group, keep it all on your phone.

Hey,

You signed up early, so you get this first: BlackTop is live.

Here's the short version of what it does:

  • Tracks your rides — routes, miles, and stats, all on your phone.
  • Keeps your garage — every bike, every log, in one place.
  • Holds the convoy together — see where your group is on the route, live, while you ride.
  • Gives you rider voice — talk bike to bike, nothing recorded.

And here's the part we actually care about: none of it lives on our servers. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. There's no login because there's nothing for us to keep. Your rides are yours.

It's free. Download it, take it on your next ride, and tell us where it falls short — we're new, and we'd rather hear it straight.

[Get BlackTop →]

Ride safe. See you out there.

2. Product Hunt launch blurb

Tagline (60 char): The ride app that keeps your data on your phone, not ours.

Description: BlackTop is a privacy-first app for motorcycle riders. Track your rides, stats, and garage entirely on-device. Keep your whole group together with live convoy sharing, and talk bike to bike with peer-to-peer rider voice.

No accounts. No ads. No analytics. No tracking. We don't store your rides because we never wanted them — there's no server-side profile, nothing to leak, nothing to sell. Just a tool built by riders, for riders.

Free to download. Find your people, keep the rubber down.

First comment (maker): Hey PH. We're riders who got tired of "free" ride apps that quietly monetize where you've been. So we built BlackTop the opposite way: your routes, stats, and garage stay on your phone, and the social features (live convoy, rider voice) work without an account or a profile to mine. We're brand new and want the honest feedback — what would make this a daily-carry app for your group rides? Thanks for taking a look.

3. Community post (Reddit r/motorcycles-style — respectful, disclosure-first)

Read the subreddit rules before posting. Most moto subs require a flair/disclosure for self-promotion and a real willingness to take feedback. This is written to respect that — lead with disclosure, no hype, invite criticism.

Title: [OC / I made this] A privacy-first ride app — on-device tracking + live convoy, no accounts

Body: Full disclosure up front: I helped build this, so this is self-promo — mods, happy to remove if it's out of line.

I ride with a small group and got fed up with two things: ride apps that hoover up location data, and the gas-station chaos when half the group misses a turn. So we made BlackTop.

What it does:

  • On-device ride tracking, stats, and a garage — stored on your phone, not our servers.
  • Live convoy: see where your group is on the route while you ride.
  • Peer-to-peer voice so you can talk to your crew, nothing recorded.

What it doesn't do: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. There's genuinely no login because we don't keep a profile on you.

It's free, and it's brand new, so it's rough in places. I'm here for the honest feedback — what's missing, what's annoying, what would make you actually use it on a group ride. Tear it apart.

(Not linking in the body to stay rules-safe — link in profile / will drop in comments if mods are cool with it.)

4. Elevator pitch (one line)

BlackTop is a privacy-first app for motorcycle riders: on-device ride tracking, live convoy sharing, and bike-to-bike voice — no accounts, no ads, no tracking.
